The School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Habib University seeks faculty applications for multiple, open-rank positions in the Arzu Program in Languages and Literature. We are inviting applications in the fields of English, Comparative Literature, Translation Studies, Postcolonial Literatures, and Literary Theory. Appointment is expected to begin from August 1, 2018. Candidates in the final stages of their Ph.D. may also apply.
The Arzu Program in Languages and Literature is a step towards fulfilling the School’s commitment to a new interdisciplinary liberal arts education in the postcolonial context. The program endeavours to cross linguistic and disciplinary boundaries and explore synergies with the other richly interdisciplinary programs of study offered at the University. Our diverse courses engage students in conversations about literary representation, theory and critique; the sociohistorical dimensions of literary cultures, and the practice and pedagogy of creative writing. The School’s growing international faculty involve students in collaborative teaching and research, encouraging them to hone their ability to think critically and respond creatively to challenges.
