LoSchiavo Chair in Catholic Social Thought
The University of San Francisco invites applications and nominations for the LoSchiavo
Chair in Catholic Social Thought. The purpose of the Chair is to allow a distinguished
scholar the opportunity to pursue research, teaching, and service activities in his or her
area of expertise and to enhance the University of San Francisco's impact in the area of
Catholic Social Thought. In close collaboration with the Joan and Ralph Lane Center for
Catholic Social Thought and the Ignatian Tradition, the LoSchiavo Chair will support
faculty and student engagement with Catholic social thought and the Ignatian tradition
through Lane Center programming, guest lectures, workshops, and public events.
Full Job Description:
The ideal candidate will bring a distinguished record of scholarly publication and
teaching with a clear commitment to furthering the mission and values of the University.
Members of the Society of Jesus will be given preference for the position. The term of
appointment is flexible, to be mutually agreed upon by the University and the candidate.
The position is open to scholars in all disciplines. The appointment may include the
opportunity to teach or co-teach a course.

interests; copies of recent publications; a statement of teaching philosophy.
