Expertise: Miguel La Serna is interested in the relationship between culture, memory, and political violence in twentieth-century Latin America. He is currently working on a study that explores the ways in which MRTA guerrillas and the Peruvian state used historical memory and nationalist symbolism to promote, achieve, and thwart revolutionary change in late-twentieth-century Peru.
