Expertise: Dr. Berry's research interests include 19th century American History, Comparative Slavery, and Southern History, with a particular emphasis on the role of gender, labor, family, and economy among the enslaved. She is currently working on a comprehensive study of enslaved prices in the United States. Her research has been supported by the American Council of Learned Societies, the Ford Foundation, and the American Association of University Women.
