Katja Wezel is currently working on an English translation of her monograph Geschichte als Politikum. Lettland und die Aufarbeitung nach der Diktatur (History as Politics. Coming to Terms with the Past in Post-Communist Latvia). The book deals with memory conflicts in post-Soviet Latvia and explains the roots of these conflicts in World War II and in Latvia's Communist experience. She is also working on a new project entitled Transcending Borders – Riga’s Baltic German Entrepreneurs in an era of Nationalism, Revolution and War. The project studies Riga’s “golden decade” and the networks of business and mercantile elites in this imperial metropolis and beyond in the late 19th and early 20th century.
