Expertise: My research focuses on the interplay and tensions between religious identity and expression, local civic and social life, and the institutional and interregional conflicts of early modern states. In particular, I am interested in the ways in which everyday social practices changed to accommodate the radical social, political, and intellectual changes in the aftermath of the Reformation, during the turbulent sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
