The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for the position of Associate/Assistant Professor of Philosophy (Chinese Philosophy or Comparative Philosophy). The area of research specialty (AoS) is open, and the aforementioned approaches would be preferable. The Department has specific teaching needs in modern and contemporary Chinese philosophy, comparative philosophy, and political philosophy.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD in Philosophy, or in a related area and are expected to have an international research profile and strong publication record, commensurate with their career stage, in their area of research expertise preferably in Chinese Philosophy or Comparative Philosophy. Applicants should also have an excellent record of tertiary teaching and supervision experience, again commensurate with their career stage. Fluency in English and Chinese is expected.
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2025.
Remuneration
A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
